Description
Do you want to help build Sweden's future maritime intelligence service? The Coast Guard is an authority undergoing transformation. The deteriorating security situation in Sweden's neighborhood, the high level of terrorist threats, and the impact of organized crime on our society are all areas that affect the Coast Guard's mission and operations.
An important part of this is to strengthen the Coast Guard's capability for maritime surveillance, where the intelligence unit is a key component. The intelligence unit is a newly formed unit under the Coast Guard's operational department. From March 1, 2026, the Coast Guard has been granted extended powers to conduct intelligence activities in the maritime environment. This means that the intelligence unit is currently undergoing an exciting transformation journey to meet new opportunities while addressing the deteriorating security situation. The Coast Guard's intelligence unit is to be developed and expanded in accordance with the need to meet challenges in our environment.
The work of the intelligence unit will focus on developing the ability to understand the need for maritime situational information/pictures from other authorities and the government offices. A large part of the mission will involve collaboration with others and an understanding of holistic solutions regarding problem areas for Sweden.
National Coordination Centre (NCC)
Each EU member state must operate a national coordination centre responsible for coordination and information sharing between border management authorities regarding irregular migration and cross-border crime. In Sweden, a national coordination centre was established in 2014 to be responsible for this part according to Regulation (EU) 2019/1896 (EBCG), which clarifies how Frontex and all member states should work with integrated border management, as well as detect, prevent, hinder, and combat irregular migration and cross-border crime at the external borders. The regulation also identifies the tools for communication and analysis, called the Eurosur framework, which are to be developed by Frontex and used by all member states' NCCs. This regulation forms the basis for the activities developed in Sweden over recent years. Today, an NCC is located at the Border Police at NOA, divided into three groups working on national situational awareness, border analysis, and coordination. The NCC is an inter-agency coordination center together with the Swedish Customs, the Coast Guard, and the Police Authority.
Tasks
The position involves serving as the Coast Guard's representative at the National Coordination Centre (NCC) and acting as a link between several functions within the Coast Guard and the NCC. Organizationally, you will belong to the Coast Guard's intelligence operations with placement at the Police Authority NCC, Kungsholmen, Stockholm. You will be part of an information flow that includes assessing what information can be shared to support operational activities. This includes intelligence information to support other authorities' intelligence operations, both orally and in writing.
You will contribute to the national situational picture. Furthermore, you will recommend and quality-assure control objects within border guard operations and follow up on control activities with summaries.
Since the operation is under development, it is important that you have an interest in supporting and contributing to the development work.

Merits
- Completed the Coast Guard's basic training
